Gerry Baptist was born Lahore, India, in 1935 to British parents. He was educated in painting and graphics at the London College of Printing and Graphic Art. He worked with painters Gerard Rose, Ruskin Spear and John Ward. Baptist worked for many years at advertising agencies as an art director in England and Germany. He did all this while he continued to paint.

Althoug artist Baptist was attracted to abstracts over a very long time frame, he has since returned to the more traditional subjects of an artist, which are figures and landscapes. Gerry Baptist has learned and used a wide range of skills using a variety of media, but painting has always been his first and only true passion. In his paintings one can see unconscious links with his early years in India. Baptist enjoys using the warm Mediterranean climate with strong eye-appealing colors to capture the intensity of light which can be seen there.« see less
