Wyeth, Andrew - 1917-
The fifth and youngest child of N.C. Wyeth, the well-known illustrator, Andrew Wyeth was born July 12, 1917 in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. A sickly child who ended up with whooping cough, he was home-schooled by his parents in all subjects, including art. With a vivid imagination and a fascination for art, his father encouraged him to pursue his watercolor painting.

He went on to have many more, including a solo museum exhibition at the Farnsworth Art Museum. He has been featured on the cover of American Artist and many other magazines including Saturday Evening Post.
His father's death in 1945 had a profound effect on Wyeth. His art matured into an enduring style that has been the same for over fifty years. His paintings are either in watercolor, drybrush or egg tempera.
He spends time in both his Brandywine Valley, Pennsylvania and Cushing, Maine studios, so the subjects of his art are consistently the landscapes and people that he knows. His paintings display the natural beauty of the subjects and the photographic emotional and visionary appeal. Wyeth's art progressed through various stages over a 60-year career, including realism, surrealistic expressionism, and a combined style which reflected both genres.
He has been married since he was 22 to a local girl named Betsey James. They have two sons, one of whom is a third generation artist. Wyeth continues to be one of the most collectible living artists and most well-known painters of his time.

Chris H. of Colorado says:
"To Whom It May Concern: Allow me to take a minute to thank you for the framed print I recently received from Art Passions. Shopping with your company was a wonderful experience. The person I spoke to in your customer service department was friendly, professional, and extremely helpful. I wish I could remember her name. She is to be commended. I can tell you that I commented on her "Michigan accent" as I was born in Detroit. I told her that talking to her reminded me of my Michigan relatives. Sincerely, Chris Hubersberger"
