Dean Mitchell was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and raised in Quincy, Florida. His unique talent as an artist was quite apparent at an early age. Mitchell breathes life and soul into his work and is equally well known for his carefully chosen subjects in figurative works, landscapes and still life paintings. In addition to his watercolor paintings, he is also quite accomplished in egg tempera, oil and pastel. The American Watercolor Society honored Mitchell with the Gold Medal of Honor in their 131st International Exhibition held in New York City. He also has other awards which include the 1999 Grand Prize from the Arts for the Parks competition sponsored by the National Park Academy of the Arts. The artist exhibits nationwide in juried and invitational shows and in select galleries. He is now recognized as one of the finest painters in America.
