His travels are extensive and have had a strong influence on his art, with the light and dark compositions in his landscapes resembling Asian woodcuts. After a trip to the Far East, Hayslette had his studio made into a pagoda with a koi pond, waterfalls and teahouse surrounding it. He likes the silence of the trees and water to concentrate while he paints and prefers dawn or twilight when the light is best.
Max Hayslette is exhibited in over three hundred collections, including corporate and public collections at B.F.
