Born in 1930 in Rupert, West Virginia, Max Hayslette had his first one-man show in 1946, even before he had started to study art at the American Academy. He graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1952. By the mid-19050s Hayslette had won awards for his exhibition designs, considered part of the field of interior design.
Hayslette's unique style is warm and spiritual, giving his landscapes...see more » a romantic dreamlike quality that takes you to the exotic locations he has visited. His travels are extensive and have had a strong influence on his art, with the light and dark compositions in his landscapes resembling Asian woodcuts. He takes photos and sketches of scenes he wants to paint, and makes color notes to ensure the feeling of the place.
After a trip to the Far East, Hayslette had his studio made into a pagoda with a koi pond, waterfalls and teahouse surrounding it. He likes the silence of the trees and water to concentrate while he paints and prefers dawn or twilight when the light is best.
Max Hayslette is exhibited in over three hundred collections, including corporate and public collections at B.F. Goodrich, Rockefeller Foundation, Stanford University and the U.S. Embassy in Australia. He frequently has solo exhibits and his art can be found in museums, galleries and at art retailers worldwide. He continues to paint in his studio in Puget Sound, Washington.« see less

"Burnside RV has had many opportunities to use the framing department at ArtPassions.com over the years. Promotional material, decorative posters and signs have all been carefully framed. We have been delighted with the results on every occasion. I would highly recommend Arnie’s for any type of custom framing."
