Parkes first painted in the abstract expressionist style, but after travel and study, changed his style to what is termed magic realist painting. His imaginative work typically shows strange beasts encountering mysterious winged women fighting good and evil - all in a meticulously detailed style that expresses his inner world. His art has evolved into the difficult medium of the color stone lithograph in which he is an expert. He has held one-man exhibitions in the United States and several European countries and his art can be found at galleries and retailers worldwide. Since 1975, Parkes has lived in and maintained a studio in Spain. « see less
