Michael Parkes was born in 1944 in Sikeston, Missouri and studied graphic art and painting at the University of Kansas. After graduating, he became a lecturer in graphic arts at Kent State University and in Florida. After spending five years teaching, Parkes and his wife began to travel through Europe and Asia, especially India, where he studied the esoteric doctrines of East and West, including ...see more »Tantric and Cabalistic. Parkes first painted in the abstract expressionist style, but after travel and study, changed his style to what is termed magic realist painting. His imaginative work typically shows strange beasts encountering mysterious winged women fighting good and evil - all in a meticulously detailed style that expresses his inner world. His art has evolved into the difficult medium of the color stone lithograph in which he is an expert. He has held one-man exhibitions in the United States and several European countries and his art can be found at galleries and retailers worldwide. Since 1975, Parkes has lived in and maintained a studio in Spain. « see less
"To Whom It May Concern:
Allow me to take a minute to thank you for the framed print I recently
received from Art Passions. Shopping with your company was a wonderful
experience.
The person I spoke to in your customer service department was friendly,
professional, and extremely helpful. I wish I could remember her name. She
is to be commended. I can tell you that I commented on her "Michigan accent"
as I was born in Detroit. I told her that talking to her reminded me of my
Michigan relatives.
Sincerely,
Chris Hubersberger"
