Van Gogh's well-known café street scene, "Le Cafe - le Soir ", or in English, "Cafe Terrace at Night", is much loved. Small figures sitting at tables outside a brightly illuminated restaurant transport you to the street cafes of France, and their well-documented night-life. Van Gogh was very proud of this painting, which was the first of his famous 'Starry Nights' series. The café looks much the same today as it did in 1888, when Vincent painted it using oils on canvas. Known by several names, including "Café Terrace", "Cafe de Nuit" and "Cafe Van Gogh, this Van Gogh painting is treasured by many admirers. Ironically, given his popularity today, Vincent Van Gogh struggled to sell his work during his lifetime. Why not put this beautiful work of art in your basket?
