A warm, orange-pink light casts itself over a small lake in Alfred Bierstadt's painting entitled "Lake in Yosemite Valley". With wild and plant life and the sheer-faced cliffs surrounding it, the lake is glassy-smooth and reflects every detail of the deciduous and evergreen trees that grow on its far side. In the foreground, a family of three deer walks along toward the mountains through the tall, brown grass and green plants that grow through it. Fallen trees lay at the edge of the water and reflect the sun against their bare trunks. More trees follow the edge of the lake to the base of the cliffs, leading the eye to the tall, slender waterfall that has created this beautiful lake. Calm sky above a peaceful scene make the majesty found here a gentle addition to any room of the house.
