German-born painter Albert Bierstadt turns his skilled brush to "Estes Park" in a sweeping view of a tree-filled valley and a distant, snow-covered, mountain range. The sun touches the brown grass and exposed rocks in the valley and touches the lake in the center of the valley to turn it shades of glassy teal. Evergreens are spread throughout the valley, and add their shades of olive and forest green to the brown and gold earth at the base of the mountains. As soon as the mountains begin, the palette changes to icy white amid the gray and brown cast of the sharply angled mountain peaks. Clouds fall into the center of the two rising mountains and rise in white and gray bunches of cotton into a clear blue sky. Majesty and peace co-exist to breathtaking effect in this varied and wild scenic landscape, making it a commanding focal point for even the most regal of spaces.
