Three white ducks fall into stride crossing a paved road as one of the small ones turns his head, worried, to check for source of an oncoming light in the comical, anthropomorphic painting entitled "The Crossing" by Michael Bedard. The largest of the ducks holds his large head high, his feathers forming a determined fist at his side, and the first of the smaller ducks falling behind adopts just the same attitude as he follows behind. Perhaps because of his place at the back of the line, or perhaps because he sees something the others don't see, the worried last duck looking toward the light becomes the comical star of the show as the painting reveals only an empty, smooth road and its white dividing line.
