A young servant readies the meal in "The Milkmaid- c.1656" by Jan (Johannes) Vermeer. The milkmaid pours out the milk, with a basket of bread on the table in front of her. She is dressed in very light colored clothes, a yellow and green shirt over a blue cloak with a white bonnet on her head. This painting is much lighter than much of Vermeer's work, although he is known for his experiments with color and images. This is wonderful example of the Dutch Golden Age of Art from Jan Vermeer, and it will look quite nice anywhere you hang it.
