Fine, almost imperceptible geometric measurement markings guide the beautiful arrangement of colors that form John McCormick's contemporary "Landscape of the Muse". Barely perceptible, but unmistakably present, the markings' harmony with the other-worldly beauty of the finished piece do nicely to suggest the cooperation of intuition and logic, precision and fluidity. The colors, and the dominant suggestion of a circle at the top center, hint at a sunset, the top of the painting darkening from fiery orange to purple, and to black. Then below them, a perfect horizon introduces cool green and lavender gray to another fiery field of color with a hint of a triangle suggesting a vanishing point.
